Why subscribe?

As its name implies, this newsletter seeks to act as an interruption—a slowing down, a thinking through—blending creative writing with criticism, theory with the tarot, literature with occult insights. Paid subscribers get full access to the newsletter, including subscriber-only essays on tarot and astrology, personalized monthly horoscopes, archives, and the ability to submit questions for the tarot to be answered as part of the paid newsletter offerings.

Interruptions is about illness and narrative, and my own struggles with illness narrative as responding to and productive of contemporary life in the United States. You’ll also find here broader and more tangential inquiries into both the philosophical nature and ethical imperative of “interruption” as a quietly active stance amidst an information-dense world.

Who am I?

I am writer, teacher, and tarot reader with a background in investigative crime reporting and a PhD in Literature, with concentrations in Creative Nonfiction and Women’s and Gender Studies. Outside of this newsletter, my writing has appeared in Gulf Coast, Barrelhouse, Split Lip Magazine, Brevity, SFWP Quarterly, and Poetry.Org. My manuscript, a hybrid illness memoir/tarot book, won runner-up for the First Book Prize at Texas Tech University Press.
